A Quiet Touch
Your feeble touch ignites my mind
as the steady rhythm of your pounding heart
drowns my heart in simple ecstasy
the traces of your sweat-streaked palm
leave marks upon my swelling heart
I am lost in a sea of unspoken words
a twisted labyrinth of lives once lived
the suspense -- how it kills me
you mouth what my ears yearn to hear
and say what my heart wants to feel
waiting for the answer, time disappears
just for a moment, my mind slips away
reliving dreams once dreamt
as the words never spoken
are set free at last
as my words sink into your rain-dampened skin
the past becomes the present -- time is a meaningless memory
your feathered wings take hold of me
and the moment is ours forever
Out the Window
out the window goes my thoughts, your dreams, his life
the frosted glass alters our perception, feeds our minds, forgives our memories
we forget about it, dwell on it, and waste it
still, out the window everything goes
inevitable, but expected
through the window the past is meaningless, the present fruitless, the future groundless
yet here we perch
day after day
looking out the window
when nothing has changed
