Someplace In Between
Death has put me on hold
My soul is floating in an empty wasteland
Somewhere between darkness and light
My wasted heart feels the clouds creep past
As the underworld singes my delicate exterior
The angels call my name – voices like sweet, floral honey
As handsome demons tempt me from below
My body remains suspended in another twisted dimension
Maimed, torn, shredded to the bone
The scars and dark shadows remain – every freckle leapt away
With the crack of a bloody knuckle, all is lost
My soul echoes in this barren cave of solitude
I sense your perfect face between the smoky haze and the scattered pools of light
A weathered palm extends gracefully – past the fog and the dust
And warms my tainted soul
With a soothing embrace
Your slender fingers propel me off of this cliff
Of self-destruction and despair
And into the river where untold dreams linger
Eternally unanswered
For a wish unspoken is a dove forever caged
And a soul without requests is a mind never made
A heart without a beat is a fire never kindled
And life without love is the sea without ripples

This post was epic. Why? Because bits and pieces of it were so epic. The only thing I didn't like was how parts of it were epic, but not everything linked together. I guess you had chunks of emotions being pulled out, but not flowing smoothly because there was too much angst.
"Life without love is a sea without ripples"<--epic.
Clare, you have a lot of potential in you that's growing and growing, I wish you wouldn't stunt its growth by being harsh on yourself!
You're an amazing poet, and I hope to read more. As do all your readers.
Keep up the amazing work. :)
*sigh* yeah. thanks, annie. -feels sad still- annie. you're the reason i'm writing. if i hadn't met you, i would have stopped writing altogether. i hope you know that. :D. i will try not to be so hard on myself :/ I guess I'm just always that way :/
