Touch, Taste, Smell, Breathe

The Essence of Love

If love had a taste
a soft, smooth melody
it would drip down my jagged throat
and spread its sickening sweetness
through each throbbing vein
in my damaged excuse for a body

If love had a sound
a harmony of heavenly voices
pleasing the ears of the thirsty
burning the souls of the afflicted
and surprising the minds of the unaffected
whose hearts have yet to sing along to the tune that never tires

If love had a smell
blooming pink roses emitting their godly fragrance
would be diminished to simple, everyday things
for the smell of love is too powerful to breathe
and too elusive to smell
if only our hearts could bottle the scent forever
to be guarded by our internal chambers
overflowing with our painful memories

Another sense

If love had a taste, a smell, or a sound
would it not be easy to find?
effortless to track down?
if the essence of love is so decidedly beautiful
why is it so lost?
most are unlucky in love; others find a way
the fortunate are born with the ability to love unconditionally
while the cursed lack this sense
to the afflicted, love seems like some sort of magic
but the capable do not know what they posess
it is power to them
extra control over their miserable peers
love in the wrong hands is meaningless, selfish, unreal
but love is never placed into the hands of the worthy
it remains a dream to all people
a mysterious labyrinth hinting at eternal pleasure
it is a game to those who were chosen
and a battle to those who are worthy

This is epic post.
No, I mean, REALLY epic. The other ones where I commented them being epic...I just did it partly to make you feel better (mostly because they were good too).
But now this is overboard.
I LOVE THIS POST.
I read it three times, and each time, I liked it more. Your flavorful vocabulary was fabulous. Indeed, each touch, taste, and smell was very appealing, and I could envision everything...
Your last part was definitely a wonder. If love is so glorious and so everywhere and so everything, where is it for me? You know?
Amazing post...all this waiting was worth it. See?! Your few posts are definitely worth the wait, and definitely a great example of quality > quantity.
