Mixed Feelings

I feel happy when I cry
and somber when the sun makes wet puddles on my cheeks
I'm consumed with guilt
when God takes pity on me and finally forgives
Last night a dear friend passed on
I laughed devilishly in that dank corner of my mind
When my mother scolds me
selfish pride leaks out of my eyes
and I mock her
The last, and only, time I was free from it all
I felt more trapped than ever
I have a mind brimming with opposites
But with so many things to feel
How can I avoid being a contradiction?

A Prediction

A strange prediction has been haunting me for some time now.
I am guessing, merely guessing, but my idea has a chance.
Imagine this...
You are lounging on a park bench
appearing to be fully absorbed in your dry, crinkled newspaper
atop a lonely wrought-iron bench
in the center of the country.
You are thinking about someone.
So, in turn, isn't someone thinking about you?
In fact...
Someone is lying face-up
seemingly asleep, eyes closed, hands folded
on top of a hand-knit blanket (from his mother, of course)
in the center of the world.
He is, in fact, thinking about someone
And that someone, of course, is you.
God has funny ways of bringing us together.
This, perhaps, is the strangest of them all.
I humbly predict
That as you imagined your (special) someone
whispering three wondrous words into your ear
in that silky voice
And as that (special) someone
relived your curly brunette hair
bouncing in the sunlight
and your smirk of a smile (his image was so accurate, it's haunting)
You and your (special) someone knew
you just knew it was true...
It's like parts of your minds switched places
in the most wonderful way
You knew he was dreaming of you
And he knew you were missing him
Hopefully, my prediction shows the truth
Has love has conquered science after all?
